The honest weekly column from The Gentle Nestco
The Washing Pile Diaries
A warm, funny and honest weekly column for mums who are still women too.
Motherhood, womanhood, love, laundry, guilt, money worries, family chaos, husband banter, baby days, teenage years and the thoughts we do not always say out loud — all softly, honestly and sometimes hilariously told.
Read The Washing Pile DiariesWhy this column exists
Because some weeks are soft, some weeks are chaos, and most weeks are both
The Washing Pile Diaries was created for the women living in the beautiful, messy middle of family life — the ones raising babies, surviving teenagers, working jobs, keeping homes going, loving deeply and wondering where parts of themselves disappeared to along the way.
It is not about perfect motherhood. It is about the real version: the cold cups of tea, the washing that never ends, the laughter that comes at the wrong time, the quiet worries, the relationship moments, the guilt, the love and the little thoughts we often keep to ourselves.
This is a weekly space to breathe out, laugh a little, feel seen and remember that you are not the only one feeling it all.
“For the women who love their families deeply, but still sometimes miss the woman they were before everyone needed them.”
Honest, warm, relatable and sometimes a little bit spicy — because mums are still women too.
What the column will talk about
Real life, softly but honestly told
Each week will focus on a different part of womanhood and motherhood — the things we laugh about, cry about, worry about and rarely say out loud.
Motherhood
Baby days, toddler chaos, school runs, teenage years, becoming a grandmother and everything in between.
Womanhood
Missing yourself, finding yourself, feeling emotional, feeling invisible and remembering you are still you.
Love & Laundry
Marriage, husband banter, desire, tiredness, romance, real relationships and the washing pile in the corner.
Real Life
Money worries, work, technology, family pressure, laughter, guilt and the beautiful madness of everyday life.
“This is not a perfect-mum column. This is a real-woman column.”
The kind you read with a cold tea, a full washing basket and the feeling that someone finally said it.
How it will work
A new diary-style column every week
Each week, The Washing Pile Diaries will share an honest column inspired by real life — the funny, emotional, chaotic and comforting moments that women and mums know so well.
Some weeks may feel light and funny. Some may feel emotional. Some may be full of husband banter, family chaos, money worries, mum guilt or the quiet ache of missing who you used to be.
But every week will be written with warmth, honesty and the hope that one woman reads it and thinks, “Oh thank goodness, it is not just me.”
